The M8 Motorway
runs for 60 miles East to West from the outskirts of Edinburgh through Glasgow
City Centre to the Clyde Coast at Langbank. From Edinburgh the M8 passes Broxburn, Bathgate, Whiteburn and Airdrie. At Junction 6 it reverts to the A8 trunk road, passing Coatbridge before returning to motorway status at Junction 8. The motorway then passes through the outskirts of Glasgow and crosses the river Clyde in the City Centre via the Kingston Bridge. It continues westward passing Govan, Erskine and Bishopton before reverting to A8 trunk road status to Port Glasgow and Greenock.
